It was designed to be a multi-role aircraft based on the development work and experience gained with the other Mirage 2000s (Mirage 2000C Mirage 2000N and Mirage 2000D). The most recent armaments and equipment have been adapted to the aircraft. It is powered by a SNECMA M53-P2 twin-flow turbojet engine with 9.8 tons of thrust and optimized afterburner to efficiently fulfill all the missions assigned to a combat aircraft in a very wide flight envelope (60,000 ft or 18,000 m/Mach 2.2). The Mirage 2000-5 is available in a single-seater and a two-seater version. The two-seater retains all the operational capabilities and performance of the single-seater. It also allows advanced pilot training. The two-seater version was ordered for export (Taiwan Qatar Greece). Put into service in the Air Force in 1999 at the Dijon air base, the aircraft then equipped the EC 1/2 Cigognes and EC 2/2 Côtes d'Or squadrons. The Mirage 2000-5 of the Air and Space Force currently belong to the 2nd Fighter Wing – stationed at BA 116 in Luxeuil Saint-Sauveur. These aircraft equip the EC 1/2 Cigognes Squadron. Some aircraft are assigned to the CEAM in Mont-de-Marsan for experiments. As part of the commemoration ceremonies of the Great War, 2017 was the year chosen by the Air and Space Force to honor the Aces. Air Base 116 "Lieutenant-Colonel Tony Papin" and the EC 1/2 Cigognes fighter squadron decided to honor the Ace of Aces Charles Guynemer, who disappeared on the field of honor on September 17, 1917. The creative spirit of Régis Rocca made it possible to find in the lines of the Mirage 2000-5 the spirit of the Spad VII "Vieux Charles" piloted by Captain Guynemer. Important Warning: This is not a toy, but a detailed scale replica intended for adult collectors. Warning: this model may contain small parts and have sharp edges. Not suitable for children under fifteen years of age.
