Atlantic 2 model - Dassault - 1/72 scale

Resin model 1/72 scale delivered with its designer resin stand in its luxury box 51 x 51 x 19 cm. Model reproducing the standard 6 of the aircraft. The various characteristic elements of this standard of the aircraft are present. The model is accompanied by a sheet of decals allowing the aircraft to be personalized (Flotillas/serial numbers). The propellers are made of metal (delivered in 4 copies). In the mid-1970s and to face the growing threats of submarines and surface ships, the French Navy decided to put a new generation of Atlantic into service. Two Atlantic 2 (ATL2) prototypes were made from two Atlantics of the first series (No. 42 and No. 69). They were modified to carry the various elements of the new weapons system and equipped with the modernizations planned for the series. Improvements were made to the structure without major modification of the basic cell. The bilobed fuselage is lightened by the intensive use of honeycomb and the aerodynamics are optimized. Entirely new electronic systems are designed to make the most of technological progress and to reserve the possibility of future developments. The ATL2 is produced for the airframe by a European consortium. It is the only maritime patrol aircraft in the world that is not derived from a civil commercial aircraft, but which has been specially designed for its mission. The first of a series of 28 aircraft was delivered in 1988. In 2013, the General Directorate for Armament notified Dassault Aviation of a modernization program for the combat system called Standard 6 giving the aircraft unmatched capabilities: new radar, new acoustic subsystem, new console, etc. Thanks to this modernization, the ATL2 will be even more efficient in the support mission of the Strategic Oceanic Force, but also in all the missions entrusted to the "frigates of the sky".
